Clogging @ La Villita!
May 10, 2008 by gracy2
My friends Dana and Jack Macfarland from Houston are in town this weekend. They are part of a clogging group called, Texas Lovin’ Cloggers. Dana is a friend from my high school years in Del Rio. Anyway, I talked Sarah into going downtown to La Villita tonight to visit with them and stay and watch their performance.
It really turned out to be fun and interesting! Dana and Jack are such a cute couple, fun to be around, gracious, hospitable, interesting. Dana is a retired elementary school teacher and Jack is retired from engineering (oil related, I believe). Anyway, they were really good in their performance…very creative, choreographed and rehearsed. Jack has been clogging for about 10 years and Dana for the last year. It really looks fun and something fun for all ages…there were little 3 & 4 year olds all the way to seniors!
I hope I meet some really great people here in San Antonio like Jack & Dana! Would be so fun to have some people like that to hang out with.
(I love you Sarah and kids…but…you can’t entertain me ALL the time!)
Sarah took me down the river to a really great StarBucks that is one of those music places…where you can pick and choose cd albums, listen, download music and create your own specialized cd’s. Fun!
Slowly, but surely, I’m finding my way around SA! Thanks for going with me Sarah! Maybe we’ll get everyone excited about dancing at some point!
I’m so glad you got to see Dana again. Did you get to visit with them long?
I wish it had been me that you saw that night. I would have loved to have been in a group of cloggers or square dancers. Even ball room dancing would have been a great past time. Don’t think I want to go back to disco dancing, though. hahaha! Now that puts a pretty picture in you head!!!
LOL! Disco dancing…even I never did that!!!
We visited during their pre-show time and did get to grab a pretty quick dinner with them. Then it was time for them to get dressed for their routine and after that we all headed back to our own corners of the world.
Dana might try to come back and visit this summer … or … if I can ever get my feet back under me again and afford some gas money, I might go there. We both talked about trying to get together again. Why are all my good friends and family so far away all the time!?!
With the exception of present company, of course! Some days I can’t even afford to spend the gas to drive to Sarah’s more than 1 x a week…but…bless them…they are really good about coordinating with me and making sure we get together. I don’t want to be a burden to them… I hope they really do enjoy my company as much as I enjoy them. I don’t want Sarah to feel like she “has” to entertain her mother! I don’t think she does…and…LOL…she’s enough like me that she probably would tell me if she felt that way! LOL! or maybe not…sigh! It’s crappy becoming the “old” one of the family. At least, it’s crappy to be thought of that way!
Not really…I’m just doing my usual needless worry for the day! Ha…now that that’s out of the way…I can move on … going to water aerobics with the “seniors”…ever since I determined for sure that I’m the baby in that class…I don’t want to go anymore! I think when we get out at 11:30 each day..they all run to their homes and hibernate until the next day…Oh, Lord, please don’t let me ever be like that! In spite of all the trouble that can be found, I really want to live each day and not just exist. Ugh!
One of these days, I’m actually going to meet some people my age that don’t act and live like they are already one step away from nursing home care…
